52 different pies in 52 weeks

Pie Art April 13, 2010

Look what now adorns the walls of my dining room!  Aren’t these fantastic?!

I am lucky to know a local Boise artist named, Carol Deasy.  She is the mother of my good friend Kim.

A couple of months ago when I was just getting settled into the pie project, Kim mentioned to me that her mom had painted a series of pie pieces on canvas and wanted to know if I would be interested in seeing them.  I have seen Carol’s portraits and still-lifes adorn the walls of Kim and Gaynam’s house for years and have always appreciated her marvelous talent.

Apparently, Carol whipped out these three pieces last fall, long before my pie project started.  She can whip out a painting as fast as I can whip out a pie these days.  Her subject matter came from a local place called Raedean’s Restaurant.  Besides good food, turns out Raedean’s makes some really good pies.

I was thrilled to get the opportunity to see the pieces and then procure them for my own home.  It was as if Carol had specifically made them for me.  The background colors coordinate with our brightly painted walls.  They couldn’t be more perfect!  Thanks again Carol.  These are a real feast for the eyes and will be treasured forever!
